Are you new to the nuisances of contemporary dance? Well, here your chance to get well versed with it. The Japan Foundation, New Delhi brings to you the expertise of Ms. Yoriko Maeno & Mr. Yuichi Nishikawa straight from Japan in the ‘Cultural Talk Series # 5’. Ms. Maeno is Japanese Dancer/Choreographer/Director and will talk about dance and herself. Mr. Nishikawa will support her with music.

We are organizing this talk to empower us with understanding about the following:

 

-What is contemporary dance? What kind of dance is it?

-How to watch contemporary dance?

-Her autobiography and recent works (traveling dance performance in Japan, collaboration with    handicapped people, and her dance company      performance) 

-Japanese dancers’ situation

About Yoriko Maeno

Yoriko started ballet and Jazz dance and worked in Tokyo Disney Resort. She received B.A and B.M in dance at Ochanomizu University and danced in a company directed by Kaori Kagaya. Yoriko was awarded in the competition.

From 2008, she started working as a choreographer and danced at various places. She also collaborates with many artists of other genres too.

In 2012, Yoriko launched her own company “Memori’s Fairy Tales”. She challenges to connect dance and any other arts and she also wishes dance would open to much border people. Now she lives in Berlin granted from Cultural Agency in Japan.
