The conference is being organised by Navdanya and supported by The Japan Foundation, New Delhi. The intellectual exchange will bring together scholars, community members and civil society organisations from Japan, India and US, to share experiences and draw insights from the response of communities to disasters in their region.

The exchange will deepen the understanding of participants about what makes ecosystems and communities resilient to disasters and what makes them vulnerable.

From the experience of disasters in Japan, India and US we will explore the role of diversity, participation and local knowledge in contributing to resilience and in post disaster resilience and revitalization of local ecosystems and local communities. The lessons from disaster will be used to explore the relationship between humans and nature.
